Achilles Surgeonfish Acanthurus achilles
One of the more demanding members of the Acanthurus clan which requires a large aquarium with plenty of unobstructed swimming room and turbulent water flow. In a small tank it will nervously pace back and forth along the front of the tank. Can be aggressive and will often harass other acanthurids. Keep singly unless the system is very large. Must be provided a daily feeding of vegetable matter for grazing. If underfed, may nip at large-polyped stony corals.
Feed a varied diet including vegetable matter such as dried and frozen herbivore foods that contain marine algae and Spirulina. Browses on filamentous microalgae and small flesh macroalgae.
