Mantis Shrimp Odontodactylus scyllarus
Among the most colorful reef animals this is a bottom-dwelling, nocturnal carnivore that can be predatory on small fishes. Requires a rocky burrow or cave and will constantly remodel rubble rock. A fully grown peacock mantis is capable of shattering the glass walls of most aquariums, but it can be kept in acrylic tanks. These shrimp have a lot of personality and make an engaging aquarium resident. Will eat snails, fishes or other crustaceans. Handle with care, it can inflict deep wounds.
Feed meaty foods, including diced fish, krill and some prepared foods.
