Longnose Hawkfish Oxycirrhites typus
A perennial favorite with reef aquarists but a real threat to ornamental crustaceans and smaller more elongated fishes. These fish like to perch in soft corals and gorgonians. They can be kept as mated pairs but two males will fight. This species is often picked on by other hawkfishes and is notorious for jumping out of open aquariums.
Feed meaty foods including mysid shrimp frozen preparations, flake food and finely shredded frozen seafood.
