Copperbanded Butterflyfish Chelmon rostratus
Coveted by reefkeepers but a fish that varies in hardiness, the copperband butterfly can be a difficult fish to acclimate to the home aquarium. Smaller individuals may fare better in captivity. MOst individuals can be kept in a reef tank with soft corals and small-polyped stony corals but some will nip at soft corals as well as large polyped stony corals. Most copperbands will eat Aiptasia anemones and will decimate polychaete worm populations. Keep only one per tank.
Feed meathy foods such as frozen mysid shrimp, seafood shavings and frozen preparatiolns. Live foods such as clams or black mussels that have had their shells broken open may be needed to initiate feeding.
