Volitans Lionfish Africa Pterois volitans
A great long lived aquarium species that spends most of its time in the open. Can grow large and should be provided with plenty of open space so it can hover in the water colum or sit on the substrate. Will eat fish and crustacean tankmates. May be kept in groups in large tanks but may behave aggressively toward a conspecific or another member of the genus Pterois.
Warning: Venomous spines
Feed meaty foods such as marine fish and crustacean flesh. Live grass shrimp or feeder fish may be needed to initiate feeding.
