Montipora - Solomon Regular Montipora sp.
A generally hardy species that has deep set polyps that are usually resistant to total bleaching and disease. Montipora grow very easily and soon begin rapidly calcifying and encrusting the substrate. In the ocean they are found from deep water to the reef crest and growth form is an indicator of the conditions it requires: smooth surfaces are generally from calmer water while rough textured surfaces are from higher flow conditions. Requires strong lighting.
Has zooxanthellae.
