Bubble Coral - Ultra Premium Plerogyra sinuosa
Related to the pearl coral. Colors range from white to green, blue or tan. Characterized by the presence of large (up to 2 cm in diameter) bubbles that arise from the polyps. Prefers weak current and dimmer lighting. Does not tolerate disturbance by hermit crabs. Once established, it tends to be relatively hardy if not disturbed. The bubbles house zooxanthellae that expose the internal zooxanthellae by inflating to increase the tissue surface area. The bubbles inflate during the day and deflate at night during tentacle extension. The sweeper tentacles formed at night can cause damage to nearby corals.
Has zooxanthellae but must be fed. It will eat lots of food if it is offered.
Size: colonies to about 12 inches.
