What do they look like? Aiptasia are small light brown anemones of the species A. pallida and A. pulchella. The anemones are typically less than 1.5" long and frequently much smaller.
Why would I want to kill them? They spread quickly. They pack a powerful sting that can irritate or kill desirable corals and clams in the tank. They are very difficult to eradicate once they really take hold,They asexually reproduce and can completely carpet everything in a tank in just a couple months and if damaged, any part broken off can become a new Aiptasia anemone.
Cant I just scrap them off my live rock? Aiptasia have amazing powers of regeneration and cutting, grinding or scraping of the anemones is more likely to propagate the animals that to kill them.
How long does it take to kill an Aiptasia anemone? As long as the Aiptasia get a good shot right in the mouth and it starts to eat the Aiptasia destroyer right away, within minutes it's dead and no need to siphon out the remains.
Can I do this in the day time with lights on or should i wait till night time? Aiptasia Destroyer can be used in the day time when Aiptasia and Majano Anemones are out basking at their fullest, enjoying there (Last) day!

This stuff truly destroys aiptasia for good. I nuked all my aiptasia on the first day of mixing up the product. I'm not sure how effective it is after its been sitting for longer. Awesome to finally find something that works, they were taking over my nano tank! |
