Pipe Organ Coral - Common Tubipora spp.
This coral was once thought difficult to maintain, but with the development of systems with good sand bed fauna, it has been kept succesfully. Will do well with moderate to strong currents. It is a "soft" coral with a deep red stony skeleton composed to vertical tubes passing through horizontal plates of calcium carbonate. Polyps can be white, tan or green.
Have zooxanthellate but can be fed with foods such as Artemia nauplii, rotifers or dissolved frozen foods that disperse to form fine particulate material in the water.
