Lobophyllia - Premium Lobophyllia spp.
An excellent addition to the reef aquarium, this species is characterized by deep grooves surrounded by thick fleshy tissues. Tentacles are usually hidden out of sight on the inner margins. They prefer low to moderate currents and do not fare well in coral-to-coral interactions so keep neighboring corals a fair distance away. The coral tissues is usually a dark shade of green, brown, bronze or red, with the papillae on the surface a lighter contrasting color. It is tolerant of most lighting conditions but prefers brighter lighting.
Has zooxanthellae but should be fed. Will eat a lot of food if it is offered.
Size: colonies to about 3.3 feet.
Area of Collection: Indo-Pacific
Reef Suitability: Excellent
