Burr Pufferfish Chilomycterus antillarum
The Burr Puffer differs from its cousin the Porcupine Puffer (Diodon holocanthus) in that the spines on the body are always erect (in the Diodon spp., they lay against the body until they inflate). It is also less frequently available and more difficult to keep than the Porcupine Puffer, often being slow to accept captive fare. More than one can be kept in the same tank and they rarely bother tankmates other than the occasion nip. Provide it with plenty of swimming space.
Feed a meaty diet including mysis shrimp, vitamin enriched brine shrimp and frozen preparations for carnivores.
