Sun Coral - Orange Tubastrea aurea
These beautiful corals are best reserved for more advanced aquarists willing to feed them regularly. When well fed, they appear bloated, the polyps increase in size and new polyps form. They prefer high-current areas and dim lighting. Their polyps are normally retracted during the day, but the animals can be acclimated to feed during the day and remain open.
Must be oriented where feeding them is easy, as they must be fed often due to a lack of zooxanthellae. Feed brine shrimp, mysis, diced fish or meaty plankton. Never feed less than twice a week.
