Alveopora - Rare/Premium The polyps of most Goniopora and Alveopora are exceedingly long (up to 12 inches or more) and graceful. Goniopora and Alveopora can be differentiated by their polyps: Goniopora have 24 long, thin tentacle tips and Alveopora have 12 shorter and smaller tentacle tips. Polyps are almost always extended by day, and partially to completely retracted at night. This species prefers moderate flow and lighting. Colors range from green or brown to shades of pink, cream, yellow or gray. This species may sting nearby corals with their long polyps.
Current literature suggests long term success with these corals may be achieved with addition of phytoplankton and small zooplankton.
