Tobacco Basslet Serranus tabacarius
THis larger member of the Serranus genus can fit into a predator-dominated reef and is a threat to a wider range of motile invertebrates, especially crustaceans. It will eat any fish that it can fit into its mouth. Keep one per tank unless in a larger aquarium. If keeping a pair, add two smaller individuals. Larger specimens may pick on smaller individuals. Will jump from an open tank.
Feed meaty foods, including chopped seafoods, mysid shrimp and frozen preparations.
