Hawaiian Squirrelfish Sargocentron xantherythrum
A nocturnal fish that requires plenty of good shelter sites in which to refuge when the lights are on. They can be greedy eaters but nonliving food introduced to the tank must be moving in the water column for the squirrelfish to ingest it. Most are not aggressive towards other squirrelfish but may defend a hiding place. They are likely to stay in the shadows if kept in a brightly lit reef aquarium. Will eat a variety of motile invertebrates.
Feed meaty items such as chopped seafoods, live or frozen brine shrimp, mysid shrimp and frozen preparations.
