Macroalgae can make a great addition to a refugium or the main display tank or as a the diet of herbivorous fishes.  In the main tank or refugium it provides a means of nutrient export via pruning.  Much like common household plants, the reef environment has a healthy dose of "fertilizer" for macroalgae growth.
